Apprentice - Level 3 in Engineering and Manufacturing

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing support in the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, welding/brazing, assembly and material handling. Act as a resource to assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and quality issues.Performance Expectations
Work with production planning to set shop priorities and ensure all tools and documentation required are available.Assist in defining the plant layout and enhance ergonomic requirements by establishing programs and conducting studies.Planning and executing projects related to new and pre-existing production lines, improvements, upgrades, layouts and new equipment related to machining or assembly.Attend Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) meetings.Recognize tooling related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with manufacturing support staff.Investigate and find resolution of specific processing problems for assigned projects/parts.Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and production or administrative systems.Participate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality and delivery.Participate in the development of process flows, process sheets, FMEAs and control plans.Use statistical methods to analyze production outputs, efficiencies, energy usage and other data as required.Assist in training shop floor personnel in meeting standards and best practices.Read drawings to ensure the proposed solutions satisfy requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities.Collect data and develop statistics to describe equipment and system functionality.Post-secondary education in engineering or equivalent.Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of Professional Engineers (considered an asset).Minimum of one year of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.Previous experience with machine processes, cutting tools, fixtures, CNC and special purpose equipment.Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining (Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).Ability to write comprehensive entries into technical log books which are then used as reference documents.Ability to evaluate the capability of current systems to address increased demands from plant operations.Experience with risk analysis and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.Community-based outreach supporting both local and global initiatives and charities.Social committees and sports teams.Discounts for local vendors and events, including auto supplier discounts.Linamar Corporation is a Canadian diversified global manufacturing company of highly engineered products across global industries & markets.
