Academy Finance Manager

Responsibilities:

1. Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to the Director of Operations
2. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate a coordinated strategic financial plan for WUT
3. Provide consultative support to department directors and managers for planning initiatives
4. Oversee and present the annual budget to the Director of Operations and Chief and Council
5. Prepare detailed financial reports as required
6. Oversee all financial functions to ensure finances are managed according to legislation, policies, and procedures
7. Present monthly unaudited financial statements to the Director of Operations and Finance and Administrative committee
8. Oversee accounting and financial systems and ensure full and accurate accounting records
9. Analyze and interpret financial data to maximize overall financial performance
10. Manage relationships with external entities
11. Work with auditors and WUT Coordinated Financial Services Unit and manager/directors to ensure the annual audit is accurate and on time

Requirements:

1. University degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration
2. Postgraduate in business administration is an asset
3. Chartered professional accounting (CPA) designation in good standing with CPA Ontario or Certified Aboriginal Financial Management (CAFM) designation preferred or willing to obtain
4. Experience in a senior finance management position
5. Knowledge in writing proposals, policies, procedures, reports, and briefing notes
6. Experience in conducting financial analysis and risk management (internal controls, insurance coverage)
7. Experience working in Indigenous organizations
8. Experience in a supervisory capacity
9. Advanced knowledge of Excel and other financial management software
10. Must have excellent communication skills in English and operational understanding of Anishinaabemowin
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
