2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Position Summary Reporting to the VP, Live Procurement & Field Services, the Manager, acts as a pivotal liaison between the hatchery, producer, marketing board and processor to ensure quality products are being procured. The position helps support scheduling of live haul trucking activity for British Columbia. This role obtains information from the producers on quality updates, weights, barn conditions and overall quality of the poultry prior to it arriving at the plant. Upon shipping, an analysis of the previous flock is conducted with the grower allowing for quality concerns that have been identified at the plant to be communicated to the producers to ensure a combined effort is made to improve this raw supply. These improvements relate to managing the barn environment, feed, light, water or kilos, etc. This role involves significant engagement with producers and serves as a key liaison between our company, industry, and producer networks. Key Accountabilities In collaboration with Live Operations, promotes the benefit of having business with Sofina to all producers to actively acquire more live supply to meet Sofina’s sales. Accountable to act as a pivotal liaison between the hatchery, producer, and processor, working with industry and stakeholder groups (eg. marketing boards), to ensure quality products are being produced. Accountable to procure quality poultry products that meet the Sofina live supply specifications, by coordinating poult placement from the farm with the plant, to meet plant requirements/kill schedule. Accountable to understand issues relating to non-conforming poultry and drive issues to a root cause and work on systemic corrective action and continuous improvement with the producer and field service to ensure high conformity to the plant’s processing needs. Works in conjunction with Field Service Representatives, vets, and nutritionists to provide field information to management to ensure healthy, usable products are acquired and delivered. Requirements A B.Sc. (Ag) in Animal and Poultry Science or a related degree and/or minimum 2 years of relevant procurement or sales management experience and knowledge of processing operations, equipment, and procedures in a poultry environment. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and maintain partnerships. Strategic execution of organizational decisions, with clear communication and follow-through. Accuracy of mathematical calculations is essential. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks. Proficient in word processing, communications and spreadsheet applications.
