Rehabilitation Assistant – Home Care Program Employer: Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba Posting End Date: November 27, 2025 Position Number: 20075825 Requisition ID: 392458 Shift Pattern: Monday–Saturday 08:00‑16:30 (Days). Shifts may change per collective agreement. Position Overview Under the direction of the manager and primarily supervised by PT, OT, and/or SLP, the Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) performs direct and indirect patient/resident/client care activities, as well as administrative, clerical, light housekeeping tasks and other duties as assigned. Experience Recent and related direct patient/resident/client care experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Education Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required. Successful completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) program with a practicum component, or an accredited OT Assistant (OTA)/PT Assistant (PTA) program. Graduates of International PT or OT programs, as well as students currently pursuing a Canadian university degree in PT or OT will be considered. Certification / Licensure / Registration Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements as per employer policy. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patients/residents/clients, staff, and employer information. Excellent organizational, planning, and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage workload. Basic computer skills and literacy required. Ability to recognize and pursue self‑development opportunities. Adheres to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices. May be required to perform other duties and functions related to, but not exceeding stated skills and capabilities. Physical Requirements Use safe and effective body mechanics while working with patients/residents/clients. Ability to safely transfer patients/residents/clients with or without equipment. Advanced motor coordination, agility, strength and endurance to perform all job functions. Willing and able to work in an environment with possible exposure to dust, grease, oil, infectious diseases, blood, body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress. May encounter aggressive or agitated patients/residents/clients and visitors; training provided. May handle acute patient/client/resident care during emergent situations; training provided upon orientation. May occasionally work overtime hours. May work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends. Security and Background Checks This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. Charges are the responsibility of the successful candidate and are valid for no more than six (6) months prior to start of employment.
