Primary collaboration with colleagues in Europe and the US (South San Francisco, California). Candidates must be able to regularly overlap with US working hours, including recurring late afternoon/evening CET meetings which regularly go till 7PM CET. Description We are seeking a Solution Architect to support the Basecamp 2.0 (BC2) platform within Pharma Technical Operations. The role combines elements of both technical and functional solution architecture, with a strong focus on pharma manufacturing systems, complex integrations, and E2E process alignment across Pharma and Diagnostics. The Solution Architect will partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, other Architects, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to shape the overall architecture of BC2 and its ecosystem. The ideal candidate has deep experience in IT/OT integration in drug manufacturing environments (MES, LIMS, ERP, etc.), strong knowledge of solution and data architecture, and proven ability to lead complex cross‑functional initiatives. Key Responsibilities Define and maintain the solution and functional architecture of BC2 (including integrations, reporting, and future scalability). Ensure BC2 architecture aligns with project-wide goals, capability objectives, and enterprise standards. Collaborate with architects of connecting systems (MES, LIMS, ERP, etc.) to design future‑proof integration patterns and functional data-architectures. Partner with business and IT stakeholders across EMEA and the US to anticipate integration needs and proactively feed opportunities into the backlog. Guide Business Analysts, ensuring essential requirements are captured and translated into actionable designs for solution architects, product owners, and product managers. Conduct impact assessments for enhancements and changes, and provide mitigation strategies. Collaborate with Enterprise Architects on long‑term vision, integration patterns, and portfolio review. Document and communicate solution architecture clearly, ensuring alignment across technical and business teams. Optional / Desirable Responsibilities Leading DevOps teams, with exposure to CI/CD, automation, and cloud‑native architectures. Assessing current state technical solutions, conducting PoCs/PoVs, and evaluating emerging technologies. Supporting platform modernization and driving adoption of best practices in DevOps and infrastructure. Skills & Experience 7–10 years of professional IT experience, including significant time in solution architecture for manufacturing systems. Demonstrated expertise in IT/OT integration within pharma or related regulated manufacturing environments. Proven experience designing solution and data architectures, including formal methodologies and architectural patterns. Strong understanding of business processes in Pharma manufacturing and ability to translate them into solution designs. Exposure to integration-heavy environments (MES, LIMS, ERP, reporting tools). Ability to work with agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe). Excellent communication skills in English, with ability to explain complex solutions to diverse stakeholders. Strategic thinker with hands‑on ability to support design execution. EMEA experience in manufacturing projects strongly preferred. Collaborative leader with integrity, passion, and courage. Comfortable guiding multi-disciplinary teams across business and IT. Results‑oriented, with the ability to balance long‑term vision and short‑term execution. Curious and adaptable, keeping up‑to‑date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
