Role OverviewWe’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can own features end‑to‑end—from designing robust backend systems to building lightweight frontend components with the help of AI tools. The role is backend‑first, but you should be comfortable using React/TypeScript (with AI copilots) to deliver polished user‑facing functionality when needed. Responsibilities Backend Development: Build scalable APIs and services using Python, Django, DRF; integrate with Shopify APIs/Webhooks and external services; design backend architecture that supports high‑traffic merchants. AI‑Assisted Frontend: Implement UI components with React + TypeScript; leverage AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, CodeRabbit) to accelerate delivery; maintain UI/UX consistency based on product specs. Engineering Workflow: Write clean, testable code (pytest, type‑checking, CI pipelines); deploy to GKE, monitor using Prometheus/Grafana; own production debugging, performance tuning, and observability. Collaboration: Work closely with Product & Design; contribute to architecture decisions, quality standards, and documentation; participate in thoughtful, constructive code reviews. AI‑Driven Productivity: Use AI extensively to boost development velocity and testing quality; help shape internal AI‑powered engineering practices. Qualifications 5+ years backend engineering experience, including 2+ years with Django/DRF. Ability to deliver frontend features using React/TypeScript (AI‑assisted). Strong SQL, Docker, Git, GitLab CI/CD, and cloud deployment experience. Confident troubleshooting and debugging in production environments. Clean‑architecture mindset: modular code, testing, documentation. Product‑oriented thinking with focus on merchant impact. Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable owning features end‑to‑end. AI‑savvy and eager to use AI tools to improve velocity and quality.
