Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Sr Operational Risk Advisor to work on a 12-month contract in Calgary, AB

The Operational Risk Advisor is a senior professional in the Operations Engineering group with responsibility to support the safe, reliable and compliant operation of the Company's Transportation Business Unit (TBU) assets. The role supports operations by developing, maintaining, implementing and monitoring programs to promote industry leading performance in compliance and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and support to company staff by setting a positive tone for communication and collaboration within the department and with other stakeholders.
  • Report identified risks related to regulatory requirements, operational, or corporate liability.
  • Identify and report risks to objectives in respective areas of work.
  • Advise on operational risk, compliance and risk management issues/options as a subject matter expert in support of operations.
  • Contribute to development, maintenance, implementation and communication of a strategic plan.
  • Coordinate the update, development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures.
  • Participate with industry stakeholder groups and company committees where a Risk Management presence is required.
  • Ensure the business is aware of relevant risk-related legislation and regulation to ensure compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 6-8 years of related experience.
  • Risk Management certification.
  • Efficient and accurate Microsoft Office skills; Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to interpret, understand legislation and translate it to a diverse audience in the context of safety and risk management.
  • Willingness to continuously improve skill sets and pursue further training in transportation safety.
  • Proactive skills in seeking out ways to add continuous improvement to the organization.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class five driver's license.
