Term length: One year with the possibility of extension Regenesis Centre for Recovery Inc. (RCR) is a nonprofit and registered charity opening a new addictions recovery facility in Winnipeg, MB Canada. We are the first program in Canada specifically created to offer live-in Wraparound Secondary Care for women and gender-diverse adults from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. In order to reflect the relatives RCR serves, preference will be given to women, non-binary, 2-Spirit, and gender-diverse applicants belonging to the 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and/or disabled communities, and those who have lived experience with addiction. Preference will also be given to applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values. Position Summary The Outreach Counsellor is responsible for providing a range of clinical psychosocial interventions that are aimed at assisting relatives (clients) cope with/adapt to addiction-related issues primarily within a residential addiction recovery setting. This role includes providing individual counseling, completing/overseeing intake assessments, supervising student practicum placements, providing guidance on the facilitation and/or creation of psychoeducational content, participating as a member of the RCR team, and supporting administrative functions. Working closely with RCR’s Program Coordinator and other team members, the Outreach Counsellor ensures that all services align with RCR’s values/principles, and reflect the unique needs of women and gender-diverse adults from the 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and disabled communities. Key Responsibilities Provide individual counselling and intake assessments for program participants. Support treatment planning and case management in collaboration with the program team. Provide guidance on the development/facilitation of psychoeducational workshops, groups, and skill-building sessions. Supervise student placements and contribute to team meetings and clinical discussions. Build community connections and maintain accurate administrative records. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) accredited school/faculty, or a provincially authorized post‑secondary program, or the approved equivalent if internationally educated. Masters in Social Work (MSW), Counselling/Clinical Psychology, or related degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years providing counselling and clinical assessments in the addictions/mental health field required. Experience working within a trauma‑informed care model. Strong understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous communities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills and ability to work independently. Proficiency in Google Workspace/cloud‑based software. Committed to contributing to a strong and safe team culture to ensure success for both staff and relatives. First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, NVCI, or related certifications are considered an asset. Requirements Must be registered and in good standing with the Manitoba College of Registered Social Workers or equivalent regulatory body. Criminal record check including vulnerable sector search, child, and adult abuse registry checks. Valid driver’s license and acceptable abstract, access to a reliable vehicle. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
