Job Description The Planner II, Production Control (Outfitting) manages production sequence within the area and trade designation while monitoring manufacturing schedule adherence and productivity. The role is responsible for monitoring on‑time material availability, releasing production shop orders, and tracking physical and transactional production progress to enable a smooth flow of production activities within their focus. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on‑site at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver. What You’ll Do Develop or modify complete production work packages that include additional production information, material lists, and work instructions required for production execution. Ensure shop orders are completed in a timely manner and no outstanding transactions remain after the completion of each work package. Assist in scheduling production work packages within defined windows (milestone, key event, and zone schedules). Ensure material planning, production, and program deliverables are aligned. Monitor work in progress and on‑time material availability to ensure they remain within company limits. Work with production and area management to sequence and prioritize manufacturing, assembly, and installation activities. Coordinate trade input into work instructions and work packages to reflect preferred production methods and processes. Track physical and transactional production progress. Produce work queue reports and dispatch lists to warehousing and production work centres with expected start and finish dates for operations. Investigate causes of issues and delays in production and expedite activities to eliminate them. Investigate cross‑discipline predecessor scope to enable work centre readiness. Perform additional duties as assigned. What You’ll Bring Diploma or technical certification in trades, engineering, or business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree is desirable. 2–4 years of experience in planning, ship design, shipbuilding, or related trade experience. Experience utilizing ERP software tools for material and inventory planning (IFS preferred). Certificate in material requirements planning (MRP) preferred. Understanding of shipbuilding operations and the relationship between planning, procurement, design, and production. Proficiency using ERP/MRP (IFS preferred). Ability to apply inventory and material management standard principles. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Knowledge of supply chain management principles, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management. Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, product structures, and bills of material. Knowledge of document control systems and databases. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and planning systems (Primavera and MS Project preferred). Proficiency working with CAD/CAM software suite, including ShipConstructor (preferred) and AutoCAD. Why you’ll love working here This is a full‑time, permanent position. The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 – $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors, including the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as the position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
