Position: Senior Ballet Instructor

Goh Ballet Academy is one of Canada's preeminent ballet training institutions, with an enviable international reputation for excellence. Established in 1978, the Academy is now under the direction of Ms. Chan Hon Goh, former Principal Dancer of the National Ballet of Canada.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Seeking to expand the Director's artistic vision, Goh Ballet Academy Canada (Vancouver location) is seeking an experienced instructor to join its faculty for Annual Programs from September to June.

A successful candidate will have:

  1. Minimum 8-10 years of professional experience as a Dancer, Choreographer and/or Ballet Master/Teacher;
  2. Received formal training from a recognized ballet instructional institution;
  3. Experience as an Instructor, Coach or Choreographer for reputable establishments, festivals or competitions;
  4. A performance career with a reputable company and is fluent with the classical as well as contemporary repertoire;
  5. Strong background knowledge of the dramatic arts and interpretations in relation to various forms of dance required.

A successful candidate will be able to:

  1. Teach 6 days a week, from September to June
  2. Demonstrate excellent knowledge of classical repertoire, and is capable and willing to teach various ages & levels;
  3. Create and/or teach original choreography and prepare students for festivals and competitions;
  4. Prepare for, know and teach specific syllabus and dance vocabulary;
  5. Complete report cards and conduct Parent-Teacher interviews;
  6. Prepare students for year-end demonstrations and showcase performances, including selection of music and costumes;
  7. Speak English effectively to communicate with students and staff;
  8. Carry out and follow all regulations and policies of the Academy;
  9. Practice and set professional code of conduct at all times.

Additional asset:

Teaching certification from a reputable organization in the field of dance instruction is preferred;
