The Agency is assisting The Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association in the recruitment of a passionate, dynamic team leader and business manager to serve as their Executive Director. The successful applicant will become a trusted ambassador for the Grande Prairie region, serving as the visible voice for the local tourism industry.

Providing strategic leadership and direction for the GPRTA, aligning the organization's goals and initiatives with the needs of the regionKnowledge of the region’s tourism goals and a strong understanding of the region, or a proven ability to assess and learn community strengthsProactively researches and stays up-to-date on the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities within the regional tourism landscapeBuilding and maintaining collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, Indigenous and Multicultural communities, and community groupsOverseeing the day-to-day business operations of the GPRTA, ensuring efficient management of budgets, grants, and grant distributionDeveloping and implementing innovative marketing and promotional strategies to raise the profile of Grande Prairie and area as a premier tourism destinationAdvocating on behalf of the local tourism industry, amplifying the voice of operators and championing their interestsFostering a positive, inclusive organizational culture that empowers the GPRTA team
REQUIREMENTS:

Post secondary degree related to a subject such as Commerce, Business Management, Hospitality & Tourism, or Marketing, or at least 3-5 years equivalent business experienceValid Class 5 driver's license issued by the Province of Alberta with clean abstractWillingness and ability to undertake extended travel within the local Grande Prairie region and surrounding areas as part of regular job dutiesAvailability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekendsSelf-directed leader with strong interpersonal skills and ability to be an effective collaborator and innovatorProven managerial skills in recruitment, training, and development of staff by providing both positive and constructive feedback in a team environmentProven experience in budget preparation and administrationExperience with volunteer Board Governance and Government relationsProven ability in developing, implementing, and leading significant marketing plans
