Apprentice Branch Manager

GUNN Consultants Inc. is a close-knit team of professionals dedicated to delivering the very best quality consulting services for vertical transportation (aka elevator/escalator) equipment to our clients. We are looking for a solutions-driven efficiency expert to complement our Toronto Branch Office in delivering optimal service to our clients. They are responsible for the management and coordination of branch staff, budgets, and operations. They ensure that all team members have the proper training and tools to complete their tasks, as well as designing and implementing strategies to increase productivity and maintain and manage key performance indicators for the branch. The Branch Manager will also be required to address any operational issues, customer complaints, or employee conflicts promptly and effectively, ensuring compliance with internal policies and mitigating risks associated with branch operations. Responsibilities include preparing periodic reports for upper management on branch performance, challenges, and opportunities for growth. The role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administrative and HR:Final interviews, hiring and recruitmentDisciplinary actions (Employee and Company)Identify opportunities for company advancementMarketing and Business Development:Final review of large proposalsBusiness development, develop and implement strategies to drive salesKey client relationship managementNetworking to improve presence and reputation of branch and companyFinance:Develop and administer budget/cost controlFinal approval of large purchasesReport on market conditionsQuality Control:Work with Quality Control Manager to identify areas of improvement and develop corrective actions/advance proceduresSupport to promote professional developmentTechnical Services:Daily Project ManagementCommunicating with architects and developers to ensure the design conforms to building usage and requirementsMeetings and Coordination with the internal Design Team and Project PersonnelOversight and supervision of Project Team membersDetermining project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; sequencing project elementsMaintaining project schedule by monitoring project progress; resolving issuesReview of architectural drawings for equipment configurations, and code compliance as it relates to vertical transportationField review/Site inspections of elevator and escalator equipmentReports, letters, faxes, transmittals, etc.Review of design, traffic calculations, and specifications prepared by the internal Design TeamBid review, contract review and preparation, bid negotiationGeneral:Other business duties as requiredSome travel to project locationsQualifications: *READ THIS SECTION* if you do NOT qualify, please do NOT applyWho you are:Famous for exhibiting a high level of coordination, prioritization, and organizationStrong attention to detail (i.e. recognizing written errors, reviewing documents for accuracy and consistency)Known to take initiative and close cycles of actionWork well independentlyDeadline driven and solution focusedPassionate about consistently achieving an exceptional engineering productReady to speak up to ensure procedures are followedNatural curiosity for processes and how things connectKnowledge of electronics and mechanical equipmentProficient with computers, Microsoft Office and Microsoft ProjectExperienced with project coordination and management involving multiple stakeholdersExperienced in the construction industry, 5+ years idealBachelor of engineering degreeRegistered with EGBC or equivalent Provincial Regulatory Body, P.Eng designation an assetProject Management Professional (PMP) Designation an assetSelf-employment experience an assetKnowledge of elevator and escalator installation, maintenance, and upgrade an assetExcellent MS Word, Excel, Outlook skillsCAD/Drawing experience idealWho we are:We have a dynamic and dedicated team who are motivated to produce great things and build a solid reputation in the industryWe’re positive, open-minded professionals who thrive on new challengesWe work hard and we have fun doing itWe offer a modified schedule for most roles to allow every other Friday offWe promote a healthy lifestyle and exercise with shower facilitiesWe organize formal and informal team-building activities throughout the yearAs a small but growing company, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated (takes initiative) and has a thirst for excellence. com
