Manager of Children's Programs

close to transit with a C‑train and bus stop steps away What You’ll Do Provide leadership and direction to the Children’s Programming staff: hiring, training, mentoring, coaching, scheduling, and performance management Lead, coach, mentor and empower employees to handle operational challenges and provide exceptional service Train staff for development of job expectations and product/service knowledge standards, including new‑hire training Act as the main point of contact for employee education and development Accountable for the performance of the children’s programming staff in meeting team objectives Establish solid working relationships within the team and other departments to ensure a cohesive working environment Collaborate with other Department Managers and Directors to set up employee departmental in‑services on a recurring basis Carry out and lead by example at a high level on all employee performance standards & expectations Backfill for frontline team members as required Adjust work days to meet program needs; may require evening and weekend hours on occasion Attend leadership training when required Rotate within the Fire Warden role with other building‑wide Managers and fill in for Duty Manager in emergency situations Facilitate emergency procedures training for staff Provide the Director of Sport & Aquatics with customer feedback, system enhancements, recruitment needs, training & development needs, ideas for rewards & recognition, new programs/services and ongoing quality improvement Assist with space allocation for all programs and ensure accuracy through auditing processes Customer Experience Actively communicate with internal and external customers on special events, program and service changes and new incentives Provide prompt, sincere, and professional responses to questions and concerns, striving to exceed customer expectations Serve as the main point of contact for product knowledge and services available in the department Communicate program cancellations and changes to the Marketing Team for online media and group fitness schedule updates Empower employees to handle customer complaints by fostering a customer-centric environment Monitor participant evaluation forms and feedback; follow up in a timely manner and implement necessary follow‑up plans Planning And Organizing Participate in the development of annual child care, birthday parties, school and camp budgets with the Director of Sport & Aquatics; accountable for meeting department revenue and expense targets Work with Sales and Marketing Team to prepare promotional material Plan messaging regarding price increases, program changes, new initiatives, and collaborate with marketing as needed Identify key areas of service and program enhancement Support teams on‑site during weekend, evening and daytime events Determine materials, equipment, facility bookings, supervision or instruction needs for each program Manage program data entry, wait‑list sports, class cancellation, and registration numbers Set up new equipment for programs and services; assess condition, develop lifecycle plan, and ensure repairs/replacements as needed Work with Calgary Adapted Hub to establish adaptive and inclusive programs and modify existing programs for all abilities Network with other facilities to identify new trends and competitive intelligence to keep programming current Benchmark industry trends and events in relation to childcare, birthday parties, schools and camps; use data to review and enhance programming and service delivery Ensure compliance with Master Agreement with school boards and the Alberta Camping Association Attend promotional opportunities as needed, representing MNPCSC Update and maintain training manuals on policies, procedures and programs Submit payroll biweekly Apply safety and emergency procedures to ensure a streamlined execution; train team recurrently on procedures Perform any other duties as assigned Committee Involvement Participate in Manager Meetings Participate in Programs Committee with Calgary Adapted Hub What You’ll Need Degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Marketing, Management, Sport Administration or related field Level 3 Early Childhood Educator Certificate (considered an asset) 3–5 years of experience in a management/supervisory and administrative role combined with experience in programming or events management Understanding of Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School Board, and Rocky View School Division schedules Ambition, drive, and accountability Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments Experience using recreation software such as Intelli, Avocado, and Salesforce Calm individual with solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills Financial acumen with budgeting techniques and fiscal management Experience working with adapted programs (asset) Strong problem identification and resolution skills Excellent teamwork and team‑building skills;
