Background:
Flemingdon Health Centre (FHC) is an engaged and involved member of some of Toronto’s most dynamic neighborhoods; Flemingdon Park, Fairview and Thorncliffe Park. FHC is a registered charity and an incorporated not-for-profit Community Health Centre (CHC), with a vision of Strong Healthy Communities. Across our three sites, we provide a range of health-related services based on the social determinants of health with extensive community engagement.
Position Summary: As a Canada Summer Student, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while contributing to various projects and initiatives within Flemingdon Health Centre. This position is designed to provide students with meaningful employment during the summer months, offering exposure to real-world tasks and professional development opportunities. This role focuses in administratively supporting in the programming of the Community Health portfolio and Finance and Administration.
Skills and Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in social services, community healthcare or related field
Demonstrated ability to adapt in a changing work environment
Hospitable in dealings with clients / public / volunteers / staff, and other key stakeholders
Respectful, patient and compassionate demeanor
Works well in a team setting and independently
Must provide a valid current Vulnerable Sector Police Check and COVID19 Vaccine
Excellent communication, team-building, negotiating and problem-solving skills
Hiring Criteria - The following criteria is established by Canada Summer Jobs program: -This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age. -International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
