The Center for Biomedical Innovation aims to unravel the mysteries of life through cutting-edge fundamental research centered on our key research areas.Your day-to-day impactYou will play a pivotal role in fostering excellence within your faculty through research and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. You will advance knowledge in your specific area of expertise and actively participate in the daily activities of a world-class university. In this role, your responsibilities will include:Actively teach at all levels within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine;Supervise undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, contributing to their academic and scientific training;Develop and maintain an active and productive research program in cryo-electron microscopy and secure independent funding from federal grant agencies;Contribute to the academic life of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Center for Biomedical Innovation by participating in various committees and working groups;Actively contribute to the promotion of the discipline through conferences, the publication of scientific papers, the organization of large-scale scientific events, etc.What you’ll need to succeedHold a PhD;Demonstrate significant experience and productivity at the postdoctoral level or as an independent researcher in the field of cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), specializing in the study of complex biological systems through cryo-electron tomography and/or single particle analysis;Exhibit strong expertise in complementary approaches to cryo-EM, such as mechanistic characterization of biological systems, integration of computational techniques or use of correlative light-electron microscopy (CLEM);Apply cryo-EM methods to study fundamental biological questions that are relevant to the research focus areas of the Center for Biomedical Innovation;Demonstrate an ability to deliver high-quality university-level teaching;Demonstrate potential to supervise graduate students;Demonstrate the ability to develop internal, national and international collaborations;Exhibit ambition, dynamism, and a desire to collaborate;Adequate proficiency in the French language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required upon assuming the position in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy.
