Applications Analyst – Data Conversion Location: St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton Reporting to the Manager, Business Applications and Integrations, the Applications Analyst performs duties related to the implementation, development, and day‑to‑day support of departmental packaged software and custom applications. Responsibilities include design, scripting, testing, and maintenance of moderately complex applications, liaison with end users to analyze requirements, identify solutions, and recommend enhancements. The primary focus for the successful applicant will be data conversion. Project Description St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) and Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) are embarking on a digital transformation project to implement Epic’s health information system (HIS) at JBH, adopting SJHH’s version (branded Dovetale). The project aims to enable safer patient care, empower providers, make care more efficient, and improve overall patient experience. Travel Requirements Will travel regularly between SJHH and JBH; remote work is supported. Candidates without Epic certification must hold valid travel documentation for U.S. travel for certification. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a relevant clinical field. 3–5 years of experience supporting packaged software and custom applications (preferably healthcare). 3–5 years of recent experience in application analysis, data conversion, or migration projects. 3–5 years of experience in enterprise software implementations or system integrations. Skill with report writing tools (Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services). Experience with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL). Experience with data conversion methodologies: mapping, cleansing, validation, transformation. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and identify inconsistencies. Documentation of data conversion processes and data mapping specifications. Ability to work in multi‑functional teams. Independence and timeliness in delivering work assignments. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Business process reengineering and process flow/mapping skills. Responsibilities Lead and execute data conversion activities for new system implementations, upgrades, or migrations. Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather data requirements and understand legacy and target system structures. Design and document data mapping, transformation, and validation rules to ensure accurate and complete data migration. Develop and run scripts or use ETL tools to extract, transform, and load data from source systems to target applications. Perform data quality checks and reconciliation to ensure data integrity throughout the conversion process. Troubleshoot and resolve data‑related issues, including mismatches, formatting errors, and missing values. Create and maintain detailed documentation of data conversion processes, including mapping specifications, test plans, and validation results. Participate in project planning, status meetings, and provide regular updates on data conversion progress and risks. Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards throughout the data conversion lifecycle. Provide post‑conversion support and assist in resolving any data‑related issues after go‑live. Work closely with project managers and team members to align data conversion efforts with project timelines. Primary contact and coordination point for issue resolution related to departmental applications; engage with vendors for support, upgrades, and escalation. Co‑chair selected Application Support teams for departmental applications. Support various IT and hospital project initiatives; provide data and configuration changes, system testing, and documentation of change specifications; participate in go‑live support. Create and maintain documentation on departmental applications and troubleshoot issues. Review and discuss business problems with end users, develop flow charts and functional specifications. Perform end‑user data review and analysis to develop or improve medium‑complexity reports. Provide technical guidance for evaluation of departmental software applications. Analyze and review enhancements for compatibility and adherence to operating guidelines; perform integration testing. Prepare and present status reports and ad‑hoc reports, create test plans, analyze test cases, and identify issues to appropriate teams. Hours of Work Monday‑Friday, days. May include evenings, weekends, and on‑call as required. Rate of Pay $43.43 (min) – $50.35 (max) per hour.
