About the RoleWe're seeking an Intermediate Commercial Underwriter or Intermediate Risk Analyst, Trade Credit to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you'll have a significant impact working with the risk underwriting team to facilitate trade and create capacity for our Trade Credit clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the buyer review process by reviewing, assessing, and providing credit recommendations on assigned portfolios.
- Ensuring credit analysis is consistent with our assessment structure, risk management guidelines, and applicable rules.
- Contributing to the success of the Trade Credit Strategic Plan, including new business, business retention, creating buyer capacity, and maintaining buyer relationships.
- Managing diverse portfolios and developing broker relationships.
- Gathering market intelligence through collaboration with management, brokers, and customers.
- Showcasing Intact's product offerings through technical proficiency and developing the ability to initiate and close new business opportunities.
- Collaborating with internal teams to drive growth and improve efficiencies within the Trade Credit group.
- Providing timely and effective communication with commercial underwriters and brokers.
- Partnering with subject matter experts to determine industry trends, risks, submission viability, and identify and apply transactional mitigants.
- Supporting performance and growth by helping to set underwriting policies, standards, guidelines, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Leading continuous improvement activities and providing training and coaching to new team members.
- Building professional networks to strengthen and deepen risk analysis and understanding of various industries.
- A university degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, or any combination of education and experience deemed relevant for the role.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in trade credit, financial statement analysis, commercial lending, commercial underwriting, or related financial services experience.
- Prior experience in commercial banking is an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis and/or trade credit insurance.
- Highly organized with the ability to work towards goals while adapting to change in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to persuade and respectfully challenge others.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate with national departmental teams.
- Effective analytical, negotiating, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work well under tight deadlines, including organizational and time management skills.
- A high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- MBA, CFA, or CPA designation is an asset.
- Prior experience in commercial banking or accounting is an asset.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset, requiring regular interaction with a French-speaking clientele.
