We are looking for a Land Surveyor to support our Midstream Survey operations in Calgary. We welcome applicants who live near, or are able to work from, any of our locations across Western Canada. Summary Of Responsibilities Working under the direct supervision of the Office Manager, the Land Surveyor plans, organizes, and directs the work of one or more survey crews engaged in surveying, directs and controls land surveying services related to measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes such as researching previous survey evidence, maps, physical evidence and other records to obtain data needed for surveys. This position also interacts directly with clients and is responsible for developing and promoting strong client relationships. Key Duties Abides by the Land Surveyors code of ethics and professionalism; upholds legal responsibility for the work, to the public, government and survey profession. Manages all aspects of surveys projects including job costing, evaluation and invoicing procedures. Manages multiple, complex survey projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and client satisfaction. Leads survey scoping and execution for midstream pipeline routing knowledgeable with alignment sheets, plan & profile drawings, and issued for construction packages. Coordinates closely with engineering firms to translate design intent of compression/pump stations, valve sites (block/check), risers, and meter stations into survey control, staking, and certified as-builts. Applies intermediate understanding of facility–pipeline interactions (hydraulics, elevations, tie-in constraints) to inform routing decisions, constructability, and regulatory submissions (e.g., AER/CER). Oversees field methods (GNSS/RTK, total station, and where applicable UAV/LiDAR) and office processing (Civil 3D/MicroSurvey, TBC/Leica) to deliver accurate, defensible records on schedule and budget. Provides leadership through professionalism, ethics, evidence evaluation, survey methodology, error identification, evaluation and removal. Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey monumentation. Coordinates findings with work of field crews, Geomatics Technicians, other Land Surveyors, office personnel, clients and others involved in the project. Maintains accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed. Fosters excellent relationship with clients and business associates. Acts as a contact lead for the Company and Project Management for our clients. Strives for excellence in development of survey products, as well as ways to improve on customer service and company profitability. Provides continuous interaction with clients on projects and maintains strong relationships with them. Follows all Midwest health and safety protocols and is committed to ongoing learning in this area. What You Offer A Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering, or equivalent. ALS commission (or a commission from another province) An articled pupil in Alberta or Saskatchewan will be considered. At least 5 years of working experience in the upstream and midstream fields. Active and in good standing with the applicable Land Surveying Associations and other professional jurisdictions. Thorough familiarity with all aspects of upstream and midstream surveys. Experience with Project Management. Proven supervisory skills. Proven ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
