Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources (or designate) the HR Assistant will provide support to the HR team specifically pertaining to onboarding, housing, protocols, and performance/exit evaluations of all Temporary Foreign Worker’s (TFW). They will also assist in Health & Safety program updates and maintaining Employee Files. The assistant will support employee relations and communicate company messages to employees. The successful candidate must be people-centered, supportive, and flexible in order to create a positive work environment.

Duties and responsibilities
  1. Act as a key employee resource, proactively respond to employee questions and concerns.
  2. Assist with Health & Safety and wellness issues. Research and provide safety topics for toolbox meetings to the operations team.
  3. Ensure Protocols at all Housing Facilities are maintained/tracked.
  4. Assist with Recruitment by setting up interviews and all related administrative correspondence.
  5. Welcomes employees to the organization by assisting with and participating in the orientation & on-boarding process.
  6. Conduct exit interviews and ensure feedback is communicated to appropriate levels of management, prior to the Temporary Foreign Workers return.
  7. Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.
  8. Perform administrative activities, in accordance with Human Resources procedures.
  9. Respond to employee requests.
  10. Assist with employee services (assist with Medical appt, bank, etc.).
  11. Assist with the organization of worker arrivals and departures.
  12. Assist in employee data management by maintaining the electronic and physical employee personnel files.
  13. Assist in the data input into our HRMS – Ceridian Dayforce.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management or working towards CPHR Designation.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Possess a sound knowledge of health and safety standards and a commitment to promoting safe farming practices.
Ability to work long hours especially during the harvest months of July and August. Will work evenings/weekends (schedule will rotate).
Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
Class 5 driver’s license.

Working conditions

Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season.
Applicants should be aware that:

  • Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather.
  • Work hours are generally at 60+ hours per week during harvest season.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Applicants must be available from mid-June until early September.
Compensation:

$20.00-$22.00 per hour
