The Derivatives Administration team is responsible for all accounting, reporting, and administration for The Canada Life Assurance Company’s derivatives. The Derivative Accounting Specialist plays a significant role in daily operations, accounting and reporting functions, and is responsible for performing daily procedures and activities such as cash movements, reconciliations, trade administration, and accounting entries. What You Will Do Perform tasks in accordance with the Company’s internal control procedures to ensure appropriate cash movement. Trade administration: reviewing legal confirmations, correct trade entry into the derivatives system, and obtaining appropriate approval. Reconcile cash and suspense accounts in SAP. Daily problem solving and issue resolution with counterparties, internal and external stakeholders. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. Assist management in streamlining and documenting processes. Perform ad‑hoc projects. Other general or department‑wide tasks as assigned. What You Will Bring Completion of post‑secondary education specializing in Accounting/Finance, such as Business Administration or B. Comm. Working toward a professional accounting designation (considered an asset). Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (considered an asset). Experience with derivatives/investments (considered an asset). Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Well‑demonstrated attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team setting. Well‑developed organizational and time‑management skills, with ability to handle fluctuating work volumes. The base salary for this position is between $44,900 and $67,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not include variable compensation components such as annual bonus or commission.
