The Derivatives Administration team is responsible for all accounting, reporting, and administration for The Canada Life Assurance Company's derivatives.
The Derivative Accounting Specialist plays a significant role in the daily operations, as well as accounting and reporting functions. This position is responsible for performing daily procedures and activities, such as cash movements, reconciliations, trade administration, and accounting entries. This role is located in Winnipeg.
What you will do
Responsible for performing tasks in accordance with the Company's internal control procedures to ensure appropriate cash movement.Trade administration (reviewing legal confirmations, correct trade entry into derivatives system, appropriate approval)Reconciliations of cash and suspense accounts in SAP.Daily problem solving and issue resolution with counterparties, internal and external stakeholdersPreparation of reports for internal and external stakeholdersAssist management in streamlining and documenting processesPerform ad hoc projectsOther general or department wide tasks as assignedWhat you will bring
Completion of post secondary education, specializing in Accounting/Finance, such as Business Administration or B. Comm. Working toward a professional accounting designation would be considered an assetCompletion of the Canadian Securities Course would be considered an assetExperience with derivatives/investments would be considered an assetProficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelWell demonstrated attention to detailExcellent communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a team settingWell-developed organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deal with fluctuating work volumes-
The base salary for this position is between $44,900 - $67,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
