Physician Assistant – Neuro-Oncology Section We are recruiting for a Physician Assistant for a fifteen‑month contract in the Neuro‑Oncology Section at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). This is a temporary full‑time position (37.5 hours per week). About the Hospital SickKids is the largest pediatric hospital in Canada and a teaching hospital for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. We are committed to child health, research, and education. Responsibilities Daily assessment of patients admitted to Oncology wards. Supervised evaluation and management of patients in the out‑patient clinic. Implement medical directives for ordering bloodwork, imaging, medications, and transfusions. Produce clinical documentation and reports using the electronic medical record system. Liaise with consultant services and community teams. Attend patient care and teaching rounds. Participate in educational sessions, including a chemotherapy curriculum. Receive training in procedures such as lumbar punctures, Ommaya reservoir access, intrathecal chemotherapy, and bone marrow aspirates. Qualifications Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHScPA) or Master’s degree in a health‑related field (MDs or equivalent are not eligible). Certification and membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA). Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Ability to thrive in a busy clinical environment and attention to detail. Capacity to provide safe, quality patient care and recognize clinical scenarios requiring immediate physician input. Experience or willingness to work with patients and families in a palliative care setting. Respect for patient confidentiality and awareness of age‑of‑consent issues. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially with children and their families. Willingness to follow hospital policies, procedures, and practice guidelines. Proficiency with information technology; experience with EPIC considered an asset. Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
