**Physician Assistant - Permanent Full-Time**

**Position summary**:
Under the direction and supervision of a registered Physician and in accordance with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s (CPSO) Delegation on Controlled Acts policy, the Physician Assistant will provide medical care to patients based on mutually agreed upon guidelines. Major responsibilities may include advice and consultation for complex continuing care inpatients, including, but not limited to, data gathering, interviewing patients and their caregivers, conducting physical examinations, ordering medical investigations, and providing patient treatment based on medical directives.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Perform complete clinical assessments of patients and formulate treatment plans
- Conduct patient interview, physical assessments, and interpret findings
- Utilize primary and secondary assessment results to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine if further clinical investigation is required
- Order and complete preliminary interpretation of diagnostic tests
- Perform selected diagnostic procedures such as rectal examinations, debridement of wounds, changes to g-tubes or j-tubes
- Monitor patient progress and response to treatment
- Provide relevant information and explanations, including a proposed treatment plan, to the supervising physician and seek further direction where appropriate
- Provide education to patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate to the clinical setting
- Counseling on preventative health care
- Communication with other members of the health care team and other hospital departments, verbally, in writing, and electronically
- Maintain clear, accurate and appropriate records of the patient care plan
- Ordering and interpreting patient laboratory and radiological results
- Documents in accordance with RHC and CPSO standards
- A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Education Program and certified as a Physician Assistant by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada
- Member in good standing with a professional healthcare related regulatory college preferred
- Minimum three (3) years clinical and leadership experience a Rehabilitation/ Complex Continuing Care Hospital or Acute Care Hospital setting
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
