The Interpreter/Translator acts as an interpreter, using English and South Baffin Dialect Inuktitut languages, at meetings and also translates council and committee meeting minutes and correspondence in order to ensure that there is proper communication between Councillors, staff and the public.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of computer and other office equipment;
  • Good ability to use computerized translation software;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in Inuktitut and English, with a thorough knowledge of spelling and punctuation;
  • Flexible availability including evenings is required for this role.
