Our current Integrated Departments of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (IDLMP) and dynamic team of pathologists serve both St. Mary’s General Hospital and Grand River Hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo. We are currently seeking a qualified anatomic or general pathologist to fill a retirement to maintain our full complement of 12.As the largest central community in one of Canada’s fastest growing regions, Kitchener-Waterloo offers the very best of multicultural, large urban centre living and vibrant city life with the warmth and tight-knit community associated with smaller towns. In April 2025, Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital will be merging into a new single hospital entity with a future building of a new hospital.

Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are currently two separately governed hospitals that function as an integrated system with well-defined and complementary clinical programs to serve both the local community and the region. Each hospital has acute care ER with patient volumes reaching approximately 70,000 visits per annum. Mary’s General Hospital is a Regional Cardiac Care Centre and a Centre of Excellence for Respiratory and Thoracic Care. Grand River Hospital hosts several regional programs including the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, Hepatobiliary Surgical Programme, and stroke, renal and mental health programmes. p>

Our laboratory facilities are well equipped including a large menu of immunohistochemical stains and the anatomic pathology system is integrated with both hospital information systems. Our pathology practice includes a broad, rewarding case mix comprising surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology.

We are very excited to be currently validating and implementing Digital Pathology.
