NAIT’s Electrician Apprenticeship and Electrical Installations Technology Diploma programs prepare students to install, alter, repair, and maintain electrical systems designed to provide heat, light, power, control, signals, or fire alarms for building premises. They prepare students to be comfortable splicing, joining, and connecting wires to form circuits, and testing those circuits for integrity and safety. Students will learn how to position and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures, fiber optic systems, or electrical generation sources. They also interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings, specifications, and applicable codes to determine wiring layouts. Skills Strong technical knowledge in Electrical. Key Responsibilities Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting. Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews. Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials. Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment. Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records. Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention. Respond to student issues. Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions. Maintain and/or submit program/student records accurately and promptly. Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners. Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute. Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement. Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong desire to help students succeed. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of computers. Qualifications High School Diploma. Completion of Electrician Journeyperson ticket or provincial equivalent, including Inter‑Provincial Red Seal. Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket. Teaching experience an asset. Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES). Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Instructor salary grid $65,218 ÷ $113,452 annually. Starting salary averages between $78,998 ÷ $85,889 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
