Modern Niagara is one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and is a recipient of several safety awards as described in the original posting.We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health and Safety Specialist to manage the safety day to day operations of the assigned project sites and regions. The HSE Specialist is required to liaise with the field operations and work as a team member with fellow HSE Specialists. Reporting to the H&S Regional Manager to provide accurate and timely support and resources for the field operations of the safety performance of the company.OverviewResponsibilitiesAct as a resource to field operations to optimize safety work performanceComplete safety orientations for new workers, promotions or transfer workersComplete regular field and office inspections of work conditionsWrite objective, thorough and accurate reports of the inspection conditionsFacilitating changes with the onsite workforce to correct substandard site conditionsIdentify and correct hazardsWork with the Health and Safety team to manage and analyze HSE dataWhen incidents occur, complete an incident investigationParticipate in the weekly safety department call-in meetingTrain and educate the field staff to legal and corporate safety leadership expectationsQualifications and requirementsPost-secondary education in a related field is an asset3+ years of experience in construction is an assetRelevant credentials to support skillsetDemonstrated competency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Effective communicator with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, subcontractors and stakeholdersWell organized with ability to manage competing prioritiesStrong prioritization and drive to succeedComfortable in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environmentResourceful, energetic and able to manage multiple prioritiesStrong team player, able to operate independently with confidenceDriver's license and ability to travel to job sites with own vehicleInterest in growing career within the construction industryWe thank all applicants for their interest.
