Marketing Communication Specialist – Technical Writer Join to apply for the Marketing Communication Specialist – Technical Writer role at Synapse ITS. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Technical Writer develops and manages a variety of content, from manuals to training materials and product data sheets. As a liaison between engineering and marketing, the role ensures product information is translated accurately both within the company and to our external audiences. In broad terms, the ability to create highly detailed technical documentation and explain it clearly and concisely to less technical people is the key to success. Primary Responsibilities Develop and present technical training presentations for internal teams, customers, and partners. Create installation guides, quick‑start guides, and user manuals to ensure accuracy and clarity. Create online "how‑to" articles and maintain online learning platforms to enhance the customer experience. Collaborate with technical support and field teams to develop training and educational materials. Technical Communication Write and distribute technical bulletins to keep stakeholders informed of product updates and service‑related information. Develop "service‑focused" social media posts and newsletters aimed at improving customer engagement. Support the creation of technical datasheets for products, ensuring alignment with brand messaging and technical accuracy. Partner with the larger marketing team to develop materials for new product introductions, including technical messaging and content creation for the Product Support Centers. Work with the larger marketing team to support writing of speaking abstracts and presentations at industry events and conferences to showcase our expertise. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interviewing skills – extract details from SMEs (engineers, testers, product managers). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a talent for simplifying complex ideas. Customer empathy and ability to translate field pain points into documentation improvements. Proficiency in content creation tools and platforms, including online learning systems. Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences. Collaborative mindset with proven ability to work cross‑functionally. Keen attention to detail, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency in all content. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications and Experience Education: BA/BS in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar. Practical experience can substitute for formal degree. Relevant experience: 1–3 years writing technical documentation for physical products, hardware, manufacturing, or field service. Portfolio: Clear writing samples—installation guides, service manuals, quick‑starts, datasheets, annotated diagrams. Must include at least one example that shows ability to explain procedures step‑by‑step. Experience successfully creating and managing training and educational content is an asset.
