GIS/FME Analyst

Aversan Inc. We are currently seeking a qualified GIS/FME Analyst to work on leading edge technology products. The successful candidate for this full-time position will be a part of a highly motivated and highly technical work environment that feeds off the collective energy of a team-oriented workplace.

Location: Montreal, Quebec
Schedule: HYBRID – 2 Days a week in office


Description - As a GIS Analyst, you will work in a cross-functional team with the Product Owner, Designers and Technical Leads to support our synthetic environment (SE).


Responsibilities

  1. Have a range of responsibilities from creating, maintaining, and updating a variety of synthetic environment (SE) content data sets used within our training ecosystem not limited to the following:
  2. Gathering geospatial data, imagery data, cultural feature data, and architectural information to create synthetic environment content data sets.
  3. Understanding different types of geographic datasets, including shapefiles, raster & geodatabases, and the ability to create and edit data in ArcGIS environment.
  4. Familiar with GIS software tools (ArcMap and FME) to develop SE content data sets from source data.
  5. Produce SE content data sets compliant to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC 1.0) specifications.
  6. Deploy SE content data sets.
  7. Manage GIS database and update GIS metadata.
  8. Use Agile engineering practices and various software and web development technologies to rapidly develop creative and efficient solutions that enhance the client customer and employee experience.
  9. Collaborate with other team members to craft clear user stories, design tests for prototypes and products, and continuously deliver product enhancements.
  10. Be a change agent & Agile mindset promoter.
  11. Contribute to the collaborative and stimulating work environment.
  12. Be connected to the industry to know tendencies and suggest innovative ideas.

Basic Qualifications

  1. University or college degree in IT, GIS, or geomatics. Another combination of equivalent training and experience may be considered, as required.
  2. Must be able to be cleared to work on Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) projects.
  3. Analyzing and manipulation of GIS data sets using ArcGIS and FME.

Technical Skills

  1. Working with satellite imagery, digital elevation models, and vector data to create detailed, high-resolution data sets.
  2. A passion for manipulating GIS data and a demonstrated interest for continual learning.
  3. Displays an Agile mindset.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions unsupervised.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Good time-management skills, ability to juggle several tasks at once.
  7. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in technology and to operate in an R&D environment.
  8. Result-oriented, strong planning and organizational skill.
  9. Bilingualism is preferred (will be helpful for interactions).
