The Kimel Family Translational Imaging-Genetics Laboratory is a large multidisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to discovering the causes of and advancing treatments for severe mental illness. The focus of the laboratory is using brain imaging to understand human brain function, psychiatric illness, and treatment outcomes. The laboratory is located in the Brain Health Imaging Centre at 250 College Street but travel between sites may be required.

We are seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Analyst who will provide support to the Kimel Family Lab’s research team and projects. The Research Analyst will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, neuroscientists, engineers, and clinical researchers interested in understanding brain function and dysfunction. Current projects focus on using imaging markers to identify disease trajectories under various treatment regimes, including repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and pharmacotherapies.

The Research Analyst will provide support in maintaining neuroimaging data collected from multiple research studies and will assist in quality control and analysis of this data. You will also assist the team with system administration of a computing cluster that is used in the daily research endeavors of scientists, fellows, and trainees. In this role, you will help maintain both user access and hardware of the cluster. You will also be required to assist with data entry and cleaning; updating and maintaining electronic databases; as well as preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed research papers. Other research-related administrative duties are also required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements.

The successful candidate must possess an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or a related discipline combined with at least one (1) year of research experience and strong proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and experience in MRI analysis tools (i.e., networking, databasing) is an asset. Experience building and managing eCRFs with REDCap is an asset. Experience with statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, and MATLAB) and data interpretation is an asset. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and be able to exercise initiative and good judgment, and will have the ability to multi-task and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting program deadlines and requirements. Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a teaching hospital and research institute. As a CAMH employee, you will be expected to actively support CAMH’s teaching and research activities, in addition to supporting the clinical work of the hospital.
