Our operations are supported by a team of skilled engineers, technicians, and industry professionals who are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship and innovation.Profile (Overview of Job):Our Tool Designers are accountable for designing Jigs & Fixtures for use in aircraft assemblies, sub-assemblies and tools for detail parts. These designs assist in the manufacturing process to ensure that our aircraft build conforms to the Type Design.Key Responsibilities:Design assembly fixtures; rubber press form blocks; welding jigs; check fixture, gauges, and any other tools used to support production activityDevelop and maintain a record of materials, detailed assembly & component drawingsReview designs and drawings from peers and provide feedbackCreate 3D parametric CAD models of tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorksMonitor and control tool development process from concept to release into productionEnsure compliance with applicable specifications and standardsCommunicate and coordinate internally and with our vendorsCapable of supporting multiple projects at different stages of maturityPerform any other related project or task as requiredQualifications:5+ years of experience in tooling designRequires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied sciences and or a Tech Diploma or equivalentMust have experience in Solidworks parametric design including complex assembliesProficient in interpretation of drawingsConditions:Shift work will be required based on company requirementsWork to be performed in noisy and often warm production areas, including working with chemicals — all PPE is required at all timesOccasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 40 lbsThis position requires the ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of timeEyesight must be sufficient to be able to read fine print and blueprint detailsWhy work at De Havilland?De Havilland Canada is a Canadian-owned and operated aircraft manufacturer dedicated to providing rewarding opportunities in a diverse and welcoming workplace.Work with a team that makes a true difference in the world- making it possible for people to travel around the globe efficiently, comfortably and safely.We’ve manufactured over 5,600 aircraft including the most advanced turboprop in the air today.
