Position : Superintendent, Forestry Operations Location : Kapuskasing or Hearst, ON
GreenFirst is looking for a Superintendent, Forestry Operations to plan, organize and supervise the harvest operations for the Kapuskasing, Opasatika and Hearst Divisions, ensuring quality work with a view to supplying the mills in accordance with corporate objectives while maintaining a cost-effective manner.

- Provide direction to operations supervisors, conferring with customers, consultants, contractors or suppliers.
- Negotiate harvesting contracts with internal and external contacts as required.
- Negotiate harvesting areas with sustainable forest license shareholders.
- Support compliance with collective agreements and sound union/management/employee relations.
- Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed.
- Develop and maintain a good rapport between labour, customer, outside agencies, other users and management.
- Participate in short term and mid-term planning pertaining to budget requirements, staff selection and projects to be undertaken.
- Prepare and develop harvest budgets, authorize expenditures, review and analyze financial reports and take appropriate actions.
- Coordinate the activities of the Woodlands operation to maintain production targets, quality of wood product and wood supply for the Kapuskasing and Hearst Sawmills.
- Prepare harvest schedules, production statements and forecasts.
- Responsible for investigations and reports such as cost estimates, harvest studies, unusual trouble analysis, etc.
- Ensure that all operations adhere to the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws and Regulations.
- Report and explain deviations from planned activities.
- Recommend change/improvements to all operations of Northern Ontario West to the General Manager.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- College Diploma or equivalent in a related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role.
- Bilingualism (English & French) – an asset.

- Diriger une équipe de moissonneurs motivés, efficaces et engagés, composée de subordonnés directs, et offrir des possibilités de développement de carrière.
- Encadrer et guider les employés afin de garantir des performances optimales.
- Fournir des orientations aux superviseurs des opérations, s'entretenir avec les clients, les consultants, les entrepreneurs ou les fournisseurs.
- Négocier des contrats de récolte avec des contacts internes et externes, le cas échéant.
- Négocier les zones de récolte avec les détenteurs de licences forestières durables.
- Favoriser le respect des conventions collectives et de bonnes relations entre les syndicats, la direction et les employés.
- Maintenir un programme de communication pour tenir votre équipe informée.
- Développer et maintenir de bonnes relations entre les travailleurs, les clients, les agences extérieures, les autres utilisateurs et la direction.
- Participer à la planification à court et à moyen terme en ce qui concerne les besoins budgétaires, la sélection du personnel et les projets à entreprendre.
- Préparer et développer les budgets de récolte, autoriser les dépenses, examiner et analyser les rapports financiers et prendre les mesures qui s'imposent.
- Coordonner les activités des opérations forestières afin de maintenir les objectifs de production, la qualité des produits du bois et l'approvisionnement en bois des scieries de Kapuskasing et de Hearst.
- Préparer les calendriers de récolte, les relevés de production et les prévisions.
- Responsable des enquêtes et des rapports tels que les estimations de coûts, les études de récolte, l'analyse des problèmes inhabituels, etc.
- Veiller à ce que toutes les opérations soient conformes aux lois et réglementations fédérales, provinciales et municipales.
- Signaler et expliquer les écarts par rapport aux activités planifiées.
- Recommander au directeur général des changements/améliorations dans toutes les opérations du Nord de l'Ontario Ouest.
- Effectuer d'autres tâches connexes, selon les besoins.
- Diplôme postsecondaire ou équivalent dans un domaine connexe.
- Minimum 5 ans d'expérience dans un rôle similaire.
- Le bilinguisme (anglais et français) est un atout.
