We are currently seeking a dedicated Tow Truck Driver. This is a full-time position.
The primary purpose of a tow truck driver is to assist in transporting vehicles due to vehicles purchases for scrap, resale, or roadside assistance. Occasionally the driver will need to secure other scrap metals and bins.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the tow truck, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations. Exercise caution and skill while towing vehicles to prevent accidents or damage.
- Proper tie-downs and load securement: Securely fasten and tie down vehicles to the tow truck to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
- Daily vehicle inspections. Conduct thorough inspections of the tow truck at the beginning and end of each shift, identifying any mechanical issues, damage, or maintenance requirements. Report these problems promptly to management for resolution.
- Excellent customer service. Provide exceptional customer service when assisting motorists and vehicle owners on location. Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and a helpful attitude to ensure a positive customer experience during stressful situations.
- Effective communication with dispatch. Maintain accurate and efficient communication with dispatch personnel. Relay essential information, including location updates, job details, and any issues that may arise during towing operations.
- Accurate documentation. Properly record essential information related to towed vehicles, including their make, model, VIN numbers, and any relevant details. Maintain meticulous records to ensure proper billing and tracking.
- Work site assessment to ensure safety of the public and our staff. Also assess to minimize site damage (soft grounds, low overhead obstructions etc.)
- 3 years of commercial experience
- Flexible schedule and able to work occasionally on Saturdays and some evenings
- Full G class driver's license, DZ is preferred
- Reliable vehicle transportation to and from work
- Qualified criminal background check
- Familiar with MTO regulations and guidelines, CVOR, pre-trips, and load securement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Work independently and cooperatively in a team in a timely and efficient manner
