Summit Drive Church
Summit Drive Church is a diverse, community-minded congregation who feel called to glorify God by developing caring, passionate followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that God is on mission and calling his people to join him on mission within our city and beyond. Summit Drive Church is located in the beautiful city of Kamloops, British Columbia, where it was planted in 1981 and is associated with the North American Baptist Conference. Summit Drive Church is a mid-sized congregation with Sunday attendance ranging between 450 and 675 (with two services and online presence), and approximately 1000 people who call Summit Drive Church their home church.
Principal Function
The Worship Director is a person gifted in the areas of leadership, administration, and encouragement to support the ministries of Summit Drive by organizing and providing musical worship—both on platform worship teams and technical support. The Worship Director is a gifted musician that has a passion for musical worship and sees it as a primary responsibility of Christians as part of their wholehearted devotion to God. They approach ministry collaboratively and long to provide opportunities for others to grow in and develop their gifts.
Qualifications
This candidate must be a mature follower of Jesus who is dedicated to the ministry of the local church, open and teachable, and must work well in a team setting. A bachelor’s degree is preferred (preferably in Religious Studies, Education, or Music), or equivalent experience leading in a church setting. Technological competence is highly preferred.
Key Responsibility
- Logistical Oversight for Musical Worship
- Coordinate schedules for volunteers for both on-platform musicians and technical support (sound, media) for Summit Drive services.
- Work alongside the pastoral team in preparation and planning.
- Oversee set-up and take down of the platform for services.
- Direct Summit Drive’s use of Planning Center for Sunday service organization and planning.
- Ministry Development
- Recognize, train, and release new musicians, technicians, and leaders.
- Develop current leaders, musicians, and technicians by providing encouragement and feedback.
- Provide opportunities for the training and development of worship leaders.
- Support the development of younger leaders through youth and Jr. youth worship leading opportunities.
