Reporting to the General Manager Canada, the Head of Market Access & Pricing will lead the shaping and execution of Moderna’s Canadian market access strategy. This role is crucial for executing Moderna Canada's short- and long-term objectives, particularly as we aim to launch 15 new products within the next five years. You will drive the market access strategy for Moderna’s innovative vaccines, ensuring that our products reach and excel in the Canadian market. This includes developing and executing comprehensive strategies to navigate the complex healthcare landscape, securing favorable pricing, and reimbursement. A key component of the role is to ensure our onshore capabilities are optimized and we can build a strategy to secure access for respiratory vaccines in the provinces and territories and private market. Your work will ensure Moderna's products are accessible to relevant patients in Canada, establishing Moderna as a trusted partner in the Canadian healthcare ecosystem.

Here's What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop Market Access Strategies: Craft and implement market access strategies that ensure the successful launch and sustained presence of Moderna’s vaccine portfolio, including 15 new products over the next five years.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Federal and Provincial governments, professional organizations, health systems, and corporate entities. Develop strategic partnerships that reflect Moderna's innovative approach to addressing critical health needs.

  • Pricing and Reimbursement: Implement PMPRB-compliant pricing strategies. Work with public and private payers to secure favorable reimbursement terms that maximize product accessibility.

  • Tender Strategy and Execution: Coordinate the development and execution of vaccine tender strategies to secure government and institutional contracts. Lead all aspects of the tender process, from identification of opportunities to submission and negotiation.

  • HEOR Localize Strategy: Lead the plan for localization for the HEOR strategy and supervise its execution to enhance NITAG recommendation and inform decision makers at the provincial and territorial levels.

  • Onshore Manufacturing Capabilities: Leverage Moderna’s onshore manufacturing capabilities as a key value driver, emphasizing the benefits of local production for supply chain security, rapid response to public health needs, and economic growth.

  • Competitive Intelligence: Maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape and policy environment for our key products. Stay ahead of market trends and adapt strategies to ensure Moderna’s leadership in the market.

  • Policy Advocacy: Engage with government bodies and policymakers to influence public health policy and secure support for Moderna’s products. Advocate for policies that facilitate market access and expand vaccine coverage.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, medical, commercial, and global teams to ensure alignment on market access strategies and to support the development of value dossiers and health economic models.

  • Innovative Solutions: Identify and develop innovative solutions and partnerships, such as AI collaborations and ecosystem projects, to enhance market access and create new channels for value delivery.

  • Execution Excellence: Oversee the implementation of market access plans, ensuring all activities align with corporate and commercial priorities. Monitor and report on the success of market access initiatives and adjust strategies as necessary.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all market access activities comply with corporate policies and procedures, as well as all applicable healthcare laws and regulations.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business, Life Sciences, Health Economics or related field).

  • 10+ years in the Pharmaceutical Industry, with 5+ years’ experience in market access, pricing, or related commercial roles.

  • Proven ability to think strategically and develop market access strategies from the ground up for public and private payers.

  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, or MSc) in a relevant field.

  • Experience with vaccine tender processes and a deep understanding of the complexities involved in vaccine procurement and distribution in Canada.

  • Experience working with Health Technology Assessment (HTA) bodies and understanding of the Canadian health policy environment.

  • Demonstrated success in securing favorable pricing and reimbursement for innovative therapies.

  • Proficiency in using data analytics tools and software to inform decision-making and strategy development.

  • A ‘digital first’ mindset, creative in using IT solutions to drive efficiency wherever possible.
