Job Summary
Pet Valu Canada is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Disaster Recovery. The Sr. Specialist, Disaster Recovery will serve as the overall IT contingency lead for the Information System Contingency Plan (ISCP).
This individual will manage the Information System Contingency Plan development by coordinating the efforts of a broad set of subject matter experts associated with the functionality and business processes supported by the system and with organizational elements responsible for related plans, such as the Incident Response Plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Work collaboratively with business partners to ensure key initiatives drive results and obtain financial objectives by providing meaningful, proactive technical analysis and support
- Provide leadership and direction to the team by fostering a high-performance team environment that instills best practices and skills, critical and strategic thinking and pro-active problem-solving.
- Ensure the IT organization has a Disaster Recovery strategy, plan, and implementation plans
- Understanding of business continuity and risk assessments.
- Provide accurate and timely recommendations to management for decision making purposes by analyzing current systems and processes to understand the business risks

- Improve the Technology process and through analytics, automation and continuous improvement of processes
- Develop Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and maintain comprehensive IT DRP documentation, including runbooks and procedures.
- Conduct needs assessment and gap analysis as it relates to recovery planning, emergency operations plan, and mitigation planning.
- Conduct meetings and briefings with internal resources
- Develop, maintain, and implement plans and procedures associated with the effective and efficient delivery and monitoring of the Disaster Recovery Framework
- Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to IT systems and applications. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce the impact of potential disasters.
- Assess the resilience of third-party solution providers whose operations are critical to the institution. Ensure third-party systems recovery times/SLAs align with business requirements.
- Work with the IT technical staff to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.
- Facilitate recovery stakeholder meetings to include development of meeting agendas and PowerPoint presentations.
- Review support documentation for the various areas of the Disaster Recovery Plan to ensure completeness
- Manage the IT DRP testing calendar and conduct regular tests of IT systems and applications. Analyze test results to identify areas for improvement. Document and implement changes to the IT DRP based on test results and emerging threats.
- University graduation or equivalent experience.
- CBCP or CFCP certification is preferred; a PMP certification is desired.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in IT operations, must have 3+ years of experience dedicated to disaster recovery operations.
- Understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures and knowledge of crisis communication solutions.
- Familiarity with business continuity program life cycle plans and source deliverables (e.g., risk assessments, bias, continuity planning) is essential.
- Must know elementary IT network principles.
- The ability to write reports, conduct analysis, and prepare/conduct briefings.
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and orally) with team members and stakeholders.
