Senior Surety Specialist, Large Contracts

We are looking for a Senior Surety Specialist to work with the AVP – Surety and Aviva Surety senior leadership team to manage and develop a book of contract surety business consisting of international and domestic large contractors.

What you’ll do
  • Strategically grow the existing large domestic and international contract surety accounts
  • Assist the Head Office team in the underwriting of the larger Contract Surety branch accounts including over line and branch authority requests and mentorship opportunities
  • Assist the Senior Leadership team in special projects that may arise from time to time including committees and short-term projects
  • Act as a subject matter expert on P3 projects and bond wordings, assisting branches as needed / appropriate.

What you’ll bring
  • 8+ years of experience in Surety underwriting.
  • Broad knowledge of business including governance, business risk, finance, distribution and reinsurance specific to the insurance/surety industry.
  • Solid understanding of the construction industry.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with both internal and external leaders.
  • Critical and creative thinking.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of business, underwriting and corporate risk management and mitigation methods.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and handle conflicting priorities.
