The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement (SBP) Corporate Strategy branch is hiring for the role of Manager, Strategic Risk Advisor. This position is based in Regina and provides leadership in the development and oversight of SBP’s enterprise risk management framework.

The Corporate Strategy team provides business strategy and transformation services to the ministry, through expertise and central coordination. As part of the Risk and Safety unit, you will join a team that oversees government’s risk management and insurance portfolio as well as the occupational health and safety program for the ministry.

Reporting to the Director, Risk and Safety, the Manager, Strategic Risk Advisor will:

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for the handling of claims and collaborating with insurance brokers and underwriters to ensure the ministry's insurance needs are met and negotiating terms when necessary;
  • Collaborate closely with ministry clients to understand their strategic objectives, risk appetite, and unique challenges;
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and analysis to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities across various business functions;
  • Develop tailored risk management strategies and solutions to mitigate identified risks while aligning with the ministry's overall objectives;
  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations on best practices, regulatory compliance, and emerging risks within the industry;
  • Lead, facilitate, and/or assist with workshops, training sessions, and presentations to educate clients about risk management methodologies and techniques;
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, decision-makers, and external partners, to drive successful risk mitigation initiatives;
  • Lead contract negotiation processes with clients, vendors, and partners to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and risk mitigation goals;
  • Develop standardized contract templates to streamline negotiation processes and enhance efficiency;
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve contract-related issues and ensure mutual understanding of contractual obligations; and
  • Develop and implement comprehensive business continuity plans (BCPs) to ensure organizational resilience and minimize disruptions in the event of emergencies, disasters, or unforeseen events.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position are attained through the completion of a university degree in Commerce or Business Administration accompanied by a risk designation (CRM – Canadian Risk Management or RF – Risk Fellow designation) and relevant work experience.
