Summary

The role of a Power BI Developer is pivotal in harnessing the power of data to drive strategic business decisions. You will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and deploying interactive Power BI reports and dashboards that translate complex datasets into actionable insights. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of data modeling, and proficiency in DAX and Power Query to manipulate and present data in a meaningful way. As projects and business needs evolve, so will the demand for innovative and scalable BI solutions. Your ability to stay ahead of Power BI trends, embrace new functionalities, and creatively address diverse business requirements will be key to your success in this dynamic and impactful role. Reporting to the Team Leader, Insight & Analytics, the Power BI Developer will be responsible for the following duties, and complete special initiatives and projects as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the business layer and presentation layer of the BI model that is business-friendly and supports a self-service environment where appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly to understand the requirements, translate them to technical requirements, and execute.
  • Combine business questions and requirements into easy-to-understand analytics solutions.
  • Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables and expected outputs.
  • Ongoing monitoring of existing key reports to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Support data quality testing in close collaboration with the Data Engineering team and Data Stewards.
  • Use the applications you are building and put yourself in the shoes of the end user to drive improvement and a good user experience.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of all current BI reporting to establish enterprise reporting standards.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on systems, solutions, and reports built or supported by the team.

Required Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, management information systems, finance, statistics, or related field.
  • Evidence of continuous learning and development, specifically in Power BI and the Azure tool stack.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in the creation of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI for the effective communication of insights and findings to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • UX/UI design expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with conflicting priorities.
  • Submit a few examples of sample dashboards created with resume.
