About the role

We have exciting opportunity for Senior Java Engineer working as part of APD Platform within the R&D IT department. The Senior Java Engineer will work closely with the Platform Lead, Technical Lead,DevOps Lead, Scrum Master and DevOps team to ensure sophisticated and on-time delivery of demands and long-termservicing of different applications within the platform.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior engineer to advance modern software development practices within our team (DevOps/CI/CD/automated testing), building a bespoke integrated software framework (on-premises/cloud/COTS) which will accelerate the ability of AZ scientists to develop new drug candidates for unmet patient needs.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on coder, passionate about software development and also willing to coach and enable wider teams to grow and expand their software delivery capabilities and skills.

Experience and Key Desired skills

8+ years of experience with excellent knowledge in core Java (1.8 and above) design and development skills

  • Good knowledge on Spring, Web services, RESTful, Maven, Jenkins, Kubernetes, lambda expressions, generics, streams, Junit5.

  • Good knowledge of Microservices, Docker, cloud (AWS), RESTful APIs.

  • Experienced working with Hibernate 4, Struts 1 and 2

  • Hands on with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery

  • Passionate about agile, lean development practices, Continuous Integration/Continuous Development, DevOps tools and practices.

  • Good knowledge and Experience in RDBMS, SQL queries.

  • Experience in working with Object Oriented Programming

  • Experience with building RESTful services.

  • Experiences in deployment tools (Jenkins, Hudson or any other tools)

  • Experiences in CI/CD pipeline implementation, Maven, IntelliJ/Eclipse and JUnit

  • Must be able to support and troubleshoot scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, backup, and restores of different software environments.

  • Experience working with global teams and guiding them through technical issues is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrate ability to apply technical knowledge to multiple systems and support multiple business groups and applications.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to work with others to achieve objectives.

  • Should have worked in a team and guided them with technical issues.

  • Good team player, and the attitude to work with the highest integrity and lead the team.
