Corporate Development Associate

Old Toronto, Canada Frankel & Company Full time

Looking for an Associate to help expand our team of professionals in a fast-growing advisory practice that works with emerging start-up/technology clients across North America. Reporting to the Manager of the Strategic Finance team, the successful candidate will assist in the development of sophisticated strategic and financial analyses including financial modeling, capital efficiency analysis, KPI maintenance and ad-hoc projects for the benefit of clients within the venture-backed tech space.

The successful candidate will be based out of the company’s Toronto Office with some travel to client offices as needed.

The candidate will be responsible for the following functions:

  • Prepare detailed operational and financial models
  • Interacting with client management teams to better understand their businesses and collect key drivers of financial performance
  • Performing financial and strategic analyses to support business insights, fundraising and long-term planning
  • Updating three-statement financial models of recurring clients to provide financial metrics analyses, unit economics analyses, capital structure optimization
  • Interfacing with internal and/or third-party Controllers to collect financial data and other information as relevant
  • Researching and documenting best practice across the client portfolio
  • Development and maintenance of capital efficiency metrics to communicate financial performance to key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with an understanding for accounting and corporate finance
  • Passionate about working with early-stage companies in the tech space
  • 2 to 5 years experience in Investment Banking, Consulting, Private Equity or Venture Capital
  • ·Previous experience building financial models
  • Post-Secondary education in business administration, accounting, finance or equivalent (MBA/CFA etc).
  • Attention to detail with an ability to communicate financial information to senior colleagues and client executive teams
  • High level of written and oral communication skills in English is required
