Sr. Mainframe Database Analyst/Programmer to build data pipelines using tools like Mainframe/TSO (JCL/ PROC, ISPF) and Mainframe SAS for our large banking client - BNSJP00033876

Location Address: Hybrid (once or twice a week) – Downtown Toronto

Contract Duration: 12 months

Scheduled Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm

Story Behind the Need:

• Business Group: GOCT Solution Architecture & Engineering. Contributes to the overall success of GOCT Solution Architecture & Engineering in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

• Project: The team is seeking as Database Analyst/Programmer to support the Bank’s software upgrade as part of compliance.

o Supports Business Intelligence Support System (BISS) solutions.

o Supports enhancement to SAS and Mainframe based developer.

o Supports efforts to modernize MIS solution and leverage Microsoft platforms for data persistence and Reporting.

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:

1. 8-10+ years as aMainframe Developer.

2. 7+ years of hands-on experience in building data pipelines using tools like Mainframe/TSO (JCL/ PROC, ISPF) and Mainframe SAS.

4. Previous exposure to Mainframe and SAS upgrades.

5. Previous exposure to Data Migration from Mainframe to other platforms (RDBMS).

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Exposure to MIS platforms, SQL based analysis on RDBMS like SQL Server/Sybase/DB2/Oracle.

• Experience in Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GIT, TFS/Azure DevOps is an asset.

• Knowledge of Canadian Banking source systems including Commercial Banking, Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking, Small Business banking is an asset.

Typical Day in Role:

• Supports, maintains, and enhances the MIS Reporting solutions to meet business needs.

• Designs, develops, and maintains the distributed data pipelines by leveraging legacy platforms including SAS, Mainframe as well as data and reporting platforms from Microsoft.

• Effectively implements SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development. Enables Agile culture and facilitates Scrum and Kanban.

• Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Best vs. Average Candidate:

• Strong technical expertise on Mainframe and SAS.

• Previous exposure to Data Migration from Mainframe to other platforms.

• Candidate who meets all the must have skill and a minimum of one nice to have skill.

• Team player and good collaboration skills.

• One round technical interview – Panel with 3 to 4 team members (45 minutes)

o Assess technical skills on Mainframe and SAS – Panel will share their screen and ask 3 to 5 questions from basic to advanced.
