Wood Structural Engineer - Sarnia, ON

Wood is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer in Sarnia, ON to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business. We are looking for a motivated, energetic individual with strong knowledge in Structural Engineering and Design within an EPC environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Execution of projects to meet client needs and expectations.
  2. Act as the primary Civil/Structural interface with local clients.
  3. Attend client and project meetings (Office / Job sites).
  4. Completion of structural design and analysis to applicable Codes and Standards.
  5. Managing and reporting engineering progress.
  6. Preparation of technical reports and calculation packages as project deliverables.
  7. Perform structural design with design software (SAP2000, RISA 3D, STAAD).
  8. Perform checks on other engineers' design.
  9. Working with designers on the project collaboratively to produce design deliverables.
  10. Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications.
  11. Authenticate and issue Civil/Structural engineering deliverables.
  12. Interface with other disciplines, project management to execute work per the Project Plan.
  13. Conducting field reviews at project work sites.
  14. Interface with workshare team from other Wood global offices.
  15. Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Wood and its clients.
Requirements:
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application.
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (with PEO).
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant EPC experience working on Oil and Gas projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of structural theory and working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and the Canadian Building Code.
  • Strong background and experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of CSA S16 and CSA A23.3.
  • Proficiency in modeling and analysis using SAP2000, RISA 3D, and STAAD.
  • Broad exposure to oil and gas facility design, including refineries and upgraders.
  • Civil (Earthworks, Grading) experience is an asset.
  • Field construction experience.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple assignments.
  • Strong technical writing skills; experienced in the preparation of correspondence and technical reports.
  • Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Willing to travel and accept field assignments.
  • Motivated by working with people, through internal collaboration or with external clients.
  • Loves to share knowledge, experiences, and expertise with others to assist, mentor and coach less experienced members of the team in their development.
