POSITION OVERVIEW
The Maintenance and Health & Safety Coordinator for the Kruger Head Office is responsible for the coordination and execution of the preventive maintenance tasks and inspection calendar, general building construction and improvement work, and support of the interior and exterior maintenance tasks. The Maintenance and health & safety Coordinator will also be responsible for the management of onsite contractor scheduled work and for ensuring that the health and safety programs and regulatory requirements are met by Kruger employees and onsite contractors. He/she will promote a safety culture in alignment with Company objectives.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Maintenance and health & safety Coordinator is to coordinate and support the HO building maintenance work while ensuring that Head Office safety standards meet or ideally exceed regulatory requirements.
On the maintenance side, he/she must ensure that all preventive maintenance and inspection tasks are completed according to the schedule, and that corrective actions are properly communicated and addressed in a timely manner. He/she will also participate in general construction work to be done based on minor and major Capex approved budgets and to support ongoing exterior and interior general maintenance work throughout the year.
On the health & safety side, he/she is responsible for documentation updates, which include but are not limited to equipment purchases such as harnesses, masks with appropriate filters, etc., compliant lockout tagout procedures with required equipment, fall protection procedures, incident or near-miss reports, sharing of best practices and communication with other Kruger divisions and sites, follow up procedures on corrective actions, communication of emergency action plan, improvement of the evacuation plan, and contractor management.
The Maintenance and health & safety Coordinator would assist with launching health and safety initiatives such as updating evacuation route maps and relocating smoking zones.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Conduct regular safety and preventive maintenance inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation in accordance with Company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform ergonomic risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
  • Create, communicate, and manage emergency action plans and first aid response.
  • Communicate with other sites to share health & safety best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in contractor management.
  • Manage health & safety services suppliers for the sourcing of fire protection, first aid equipment, personal protective equipment, etc.
  • Update SDS, S.O.P. and security manual documents.
  • Based on approved budget, plan, schedule and execute various construction work such as office renovations, flooring, plastering, painting, wall divisions, etc.
  • Perform various repairs following preventive maintenance and inspection.
  • Perform interior and exterior maintenance tasks, such as grass cutting, weeding, snow removal, asphalt patching, vacuuming spills, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
ACADEMIC
  • Driver’s license.
  • ASP Construction certification.
  • First Aid, Confined Space, Lockout Tagout, Fall Protection certifications.
EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Oracle/JDEdwards.
Knowledge of health & safety laws and regulations in Québec.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Autonomous worker and able to work in a team.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
LANGUAGES
  • Bilingual in English and French.
Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them.
