The Senior Test Engineering Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across the Telesat LEO system with vendors and other partners and will be responsible for maintaining the lab.

Main Responsibilities
  • Issue recommendations and influence the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO system.
  • Develop system and sub-system verification matrices against system requirements.
  • Coordinate and participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Serve as an RF expert and support other technical staff as required.
  • Play an active role in component and subsystem design and test activities.
  • Ensure products under test meet technical, functional, performance, and business requirements.
  • Keep the lab functional and up to date with known hardware and software configurations to execute various test scenarios as necessary.
  • Work with various Antenna Vendors to integrate User Terminals.
  • Collaborate with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns.
Education & Experience Required
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in satellite communications.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure to modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in RF testing in Ka bands.
  • Hands-on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator).
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering principles and design practices.
  • Integration of various antenna types like FlatPanel/Dual parabolic, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation, and coding and its impact on satellite link performance.
  • Experience with satellite link budget analyses with a good understanding of the effects of impairments on link performance.
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams, and partners/suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with various traffic generators like Ixia, Spirent.
  • Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates.
  • Experience in MEF standards.
  • Proficient with MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience with BUC/LNB and various antenna technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
