Position Summary

Parts Engineering Contractor

Position Description: Associate Specialist/Contractor, Logistics Engineering

The parts engineering contractor position involves researching, analyzing and creating spare parts data procedures for Technical Manuals (TM) based on CAD models and engineering drawings.

Advantages

Day-to-day activities include:

  1. Gather information from Design and Reliability Engineering teams to understand vehicle systems and their maintenance requirements.
  2. Analyze and interpret military and component specifications and standards.
  3. Interpret level of repair analysis (LORA) to define component replacement requirements.
  4. Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain technical documentation.
  5. Write documentation for spare parts replacement.
  6. Collaborate with technical illustrators to generate graphics to support technical procedures.
  7. Conduct thorough quality checks and proofreading of documents to eliminate errors and ensure consistency with style guidance.
  8. Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as engineers and vehicle technicians, to ensure accuracy of technical content.
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be provided one-on-one training. This training includes, but is not limited to, overview of the vehicle system and operation, authoring software (XML), content management system, style/language-specific guidance, and ongoing mentorship by lead spare parts expert. The successful candidate will gain a detailed understanding of systems through experience in this role.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. College diploma or university degree in a technical discipline
  2. Ability to interpret engineering drawings/schematics
  3. Electrical or mechanical aptitude
  4. A desire to put your technical diploma or degree into practical use
  5. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality documentation
  6. Effective organization, prioritization and time management skills
  7. A bias for working independently in a collaborative environment
  8. Willingness to learn technical skills as part of a highly skilled team
  9. An openness to learn something new every day
  10. Ability to travel (5% Canada or 5% US & Int’l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  11. Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space
