Position Overview

The Account Director will serve as a senior-level leader within the organization responsible for managing client accounts and ensuring the successful execution of experiential and event campaigns. This role plays a critical role in fostering strong client relationships, driving revenue growth, and achieving organizational objectives. Additionally, this person will collaborate with the executive team to ensure alignment with the organization's strategic goals. They will be a leader and role model and actively participate in conversations around the growth of the company. This role combines strategic thinking, leadership, and client management to achieve outstanding results for our clients.

Key Accountabilities & Performance Standards:

Account Leadership:
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with a wide portfolio of clients.
  • Understand client objectives, challenges, and industry trends to provide strategic guidance
  • Be the main point of contact between the agency and clients, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure realistic timelines are being set with clear and precise communication on next steps with clients and internal departments/stakeholders.
  • Keep agency management up-to-date on big-picture account issues and opportunities.
  • Overall management of the agency's standards and services.
Strategic Planning & Management:
  • Develop and implement strategies that align with client goals.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and collaborate with the creative and strategy teams to develop innovative campaign ideas.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for clients.
  • Be involved in and have input on all major business decisions; strategic discussions, meetings, and research.
  • Lead RFPs and proposals with defined steps to achieve client results.
  • Manage contracts and financial matters in conjunction with VP of Client Services.
  • Review, approve, and have input on all creative concepts/strategies and communications before sharing with clients.
People Leadership:
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to direct reports and other internal employees.
  • Oversee the priorities and workload of the direct reports.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Be a positive role model for the rest of the team/agency.
Financial Management:
  • Create and manage account budgets, ensuring profitability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor project financials, including billing, invoicing, and forecasting.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling agency services.
Campaign Execution:
  • Ensure flawless execution of advertising and event campaigns, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with creative, production, and event management teams to deliver outstanding results.
  • Conduct post-campaign analysis and optimization for continuous improvement.
New Business Development:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing client accounts.
  • Participate in pitches and presentations to win new clients.
  • Contribute to the agency's growth strategy by expanding the client portfolio.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (ideally 10+ years) in account management within a marketing or experiential agency, with a focus on managing senior-level client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Natural born storyteller.
  • Demonstrate proven track record of leading and delivering creative / exceptional work
  • In-depth knowledge of advertising and event industry trends and best practices.
  • Proficiency in project management and budgeting software/tools
  • Innate curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Passion for coaching and teaching with a teamwork mindset as well as the ability to make/have the necessary tough decisions/discussions.
  • Capacity to work outside normal business hours and on weekends to meet the needs of events.
