Reporting to the Manager of Older Adults Programs, the Participant and Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in the delivery of Community Dance programs. This role is ideal for an individual with dance education and teaching experience who has a passion for inclusive, community-engaged practice and strong organizational and communication skills. Key duties include teaching in Community Dance programs, collaborating on participant registration processes, regular participant and volunteer communications, volunteer scheduling and program materials maintenance and set-up. This position functions within a fast-paced office environment; working hours are typically Sunday to Thursday and will include some evening work. The ideal candidate will be passionate about dance as a means of improving community wellbeing; all forms of dance are welcome.
Community Dance teaching including work with public school students, older adults, children and youth with diverse needs etc.
Assists with departmental communications by phone, email and with in-person inquiries;
Communicates with participants and families to ensure they are well-informed and fully supported in their dance experience;
Supports the on-boarding, training, and scheduling of program volunteers
Assists with special events such as NBS Block Party and other community programming and performances.
Significant professional experience working as a dance teacher, experience in a community context considered an asset
Education related to dance education, alongside administrative skills and/or post-secondary qualifications.
Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Capacity to become proficient in additional scheduling, registration and data management platforms (e.g. French-language proficiency considered an asset
Successful candidates must supply Canada’s National Ballet School with a Police Reference Check in accordance with the School’s Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy; NBS is the largest dance training organization in Canada.
