Job Details

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Solar Engineer for our Power Division. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities
  1. Assigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems, and reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  2. Reviews and prepares technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.
  3. Prepares proposal writeups and estimates based on client Request for Proposals (RFPs).
  4. Develops, approves, and co-ordinates work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  5. Requires effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and associates for the purpose of discussing design problems, explaining design features and specifications, and other project control criteria.
  6. Establishes and maintains client contacts to seek or provide technical information related to the immediate project.
  7. Analyses problems, organizes investigations, and determines specific design criteria.
  8. Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources and staff required to meet objectives.
  9. Is required to have knowledge of related disciplines/fields of engineering.
Requirements

University degree in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years of working experience in Electrical Solar Engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience working in consulting firms. Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada. Possess experience in preparing substation plan and profile view, grounding, lightning.

Possess exceptional communication skills (client relations, team project communications, and proposal and report development). Mastery of PVsyst and all detailed design aspects of PV generating facilities.

Possess an extensive background in electrical studies for medium and high voltage systems. The ideal candidate will possess Experience in preparing substation plan and profile view, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, cable trench, cable trays, conduit layout and detail installation drawings.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in preparing technical specification of the electrical equipment, evaluation of proposals, and will be able to review vendor drawings.

The ideal candidate will possess experience with high voltage substations for renewable and electrical utility clients. The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000.

Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.) If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law.

These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
