Facilities Maintenance Coordinator

The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for performing general maintenance and corrective repairs on multiple City owned infrastructure and facilities. This role includes dock and carpentry related repairs, building hardware repairs, minor plumbing and HVAC maintenance, painting, changing lightbulbs, etc., as well as property maintenance (grounds related activities), and light equipment operation. Other duties include obtaining quotations for maintenance repairs and capital projects, performing quality assurance checks for projects, conducting reviews of contractor work, and assisting in monitoring building control systems including seasonal adjustments during the spring and fall seasons. The individual will demonstrate initiative on a daily basis, understand the role they play within the community, and have excellent customer service skills.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A licensed journeyperson or journeyperson candidate with valid Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems or a holder of a provisional Certificate of Qualification. Consideration will be given to an apprentice or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years proven experience in facility repair and maintenance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario “G” Drivers Licence and a clean driving record.
  • Must possess a valid pleasure craft operating card.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and its construction related Regulations (TSSA, ESA, OH&S).
  • Working knowledge of local municipal bylaws that affect renovations and constructions, permitting and inspection requirements.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and building plans, specifically related to mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and sanitation.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needed to complete projects and order and pick up of materials.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel) and comfortable with windows based programs such as City Wide and Maintenance Manager.
  • Experience with overseeing the work of contractors or external vendors, preparing and reviewing tender packages and bids would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Workplace Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize.
  • Must be capable of working at heights with scaffolds, ladders and genie lifts.
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs frequently and occasionally up to 100lbs.
  • Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time and willingness to work in unsanitary and varying climate conditions.
  • Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday

Salary & Benefits: Benefits in accordance with Collective Agreement
Salary $28.90/hr
